Job summary

Des Plaines Public Library is seeking a diligent, self-motivated individual to assist patrons with library accounts and materials. You will help register patrons for library cards, programs, and services, and engage in outreach within the community.

The role requires strong customer service, computer literacy, and the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment. Evenings and weekend availability is required; starting wage is $18.00/hour, with PTO accrual and employee assistance programs.

Qualifications

• Two years college preferred.
• Two years library experience or two years retail customer service experience.
• Available to work evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Assists patrons with library accounts and materials.
• Registers patrons for library cards, programs, and services.
• Fulfills interlibrary loan requests and reports statistics.
• Maintains displays and shelving; processes donations and holds.
• Promotes library cards and services at schools and community events.
• Assists with self-checks, catalog, and cashiering duties.
