Job summary

The City of Marion's Marion Public Library is seeking a Patron Services Support Staff member to assist patrons at information desks and the bookmobile, with emphasis on excellent customer service and accuracy. This full-time paraprofessional role requires independent judgment within established procedures and may include evening and weekend shifts.

You will handle transactions, assist with digital resources, reference interviews, readers' advisory, and contribute to teen and youth support

Qualifications

• Strong customer service and interpersonal skills required.
• Ability to respond to a diverse range of patron needs with professionalism.
• Familiarity with print and online library resources and information retrieval.
• Able to conduct reference interviews to determine patrons’ information needs.
• Proficient with standard office software and devices.
• Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Serve patrons at Information, Circulation, Reference, Tech, Children’s and Teen desks.
• Assist with Bookmobile duties and drive training may be required.
• Create patron accounts and process holds, transfers, and ILL requests.
• Provide Readers’ Advisory and assistance with accessing digital resources.
• Handle cash transactions and ensure compliance with library policies.
• Support youth services and teen programs; participate in staff trainings.
