Job summary

Marion Public Library is seeking a part-time Patron Services Support Staff to assist patrons at multiple service desks, including Information, Reference, Tech, and Children’s desks. This paraprofessional role requires independent judgment and regular library tasks, with hours up to 30 per week, including weekends and evenings.

You will report to the Patron Services Manager and collaborate with Leads to provide top customer service and help patrons access both physical and digital resources.

Qualifications

• Strong customer service and ability to assist a diverse patron population.
• Familiar with office software, library databases and information retrieval.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and reflect on own performance.

Responsibilities

• Serve patrons at Information and other public desks (Reference, Technology, Children's, Teen, Drive-Up Window).
• Identify and retrieve collection and account information for patrons.
• Assist access to physical and digital collections; place holds and request ILL.
• Handle cash register transactions and resolve patron charges.
• Provide Readers' Advisory and assist with library technologies.
• Participate in staff meetings and training; support off-desk tasks.
