Birmingham Gastroenterology seeks a patient-focused Medical Office Assistant to support front desk and clinical operations in Birmingham, AL. You will greet patients, manage flow, take vitals, and help with light MA tasks while maintaining accurate records and a courteous, professional demeanor.

Responsibilities include ensuring HIPAA compliance, using EHR systems, managing supplies, and coordinating with physicians and staff to deliver organized, compassionate care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 1 year medical office experience preferred.
• Excellent time management and organizational skills.
• Ability to communicate orally and in writing with patients, doctors and staff.
• Knowledge of Electronic Health Records (EHR) and related processes.
• Typing speed of 35–40 words per minute.
• Experience with assisting patient needs.
• BLS or ALS certification.

Responsabilités

• Greet patients and ensure a welcoming, courteous environment.
• Take and record patient vitals and verify correct patient with chart and physician.
• Manage patient flow from front desk to exam rooms.
• Communicate with patients if physicians are late or running behind.
• Maintain cleanliness and disinfection of clinic areas and equipment.
• Supply exam rooms and manage inventory and ordering of supplies.
• Assist with precertifications and light MA tasks as needed.
• Ensure HIPAA guidelines are observed and followed.
