Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• BLS certification.
• Previous experience in a patient care setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Transports patients safely by wheelchair, stretcher, or bed using rails and straps, while avoiding interference with IV lines and monitors.
• Maintains isolation precautions and adheres to protective requirements at all times.
• Observes and monitors patient comfort and safety at arrival, during transport, and on discharge.
• Identifies equipment or patient problems and reports to nurses or supervisors as appropriate.
• Brings patient charts and records, confirms orders, and relays critical information to staff on entry or return to department.
• Performs non-clinical clerical, maintenance and direct care activities including assisting, transporting, preparing and observing patients.
• Monitors inventory of supplies on stretchers, wheelchairs and transport equipment to prevent interruptions.
• Cleans and reports maintenance on transport equipment; follows dispatcher priorities.
• Performs additional duties within scope after coordination with department leadership.
• Performs essential functions at Mary Washington Hospital and Stafford Hospital locations, as scheduled.
