Job summary

Mary Washington Healthcare is seeking a Patient Transporter to move patients safely and compassionately within the facility. You will assist patients in and out of wheelchairs, stretchers, or beds, secure medical equipment, and maintain infection control during transport.

You'll work as part of a multidisciplinary care team, monitor patient comfort, and perform duties that support patient flow and quality of care. This is a full-time, on-site role with a strong emphasis on safety and empathy.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• BLS certification required.
• Previous experience in a patient care setting preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy loads.
• Professional, compassionate and patient-focused approach.

Responsibilities

• Transports patients to and from different departments and areas within the healthcare facility via wheelchair, stretcher, or hospital bed.
• Provides safe patient handling using proper transfer and lift devices with safe body mechanics.
• Secures patient’s medical equipment during transport and maintains safety and cleanliness.
• Identifies fall risks and implements fall reduction strategies during transport.
• Cleans and disinfects transport equipment and shared hospital equipment.
• Observes infection prevention guidelines to ensure safety and reduce infections.
