Job summary

• BLS certification required.
• Previous experience in a patient care setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Transports patients to and from departments via wheelchair, stretcher, or hospital bed.
• Uses proper transfer and lift devices with safe body mechanics.
• Secures patient equipment during transport and maintains cleanliness and safety.
• Identifies fall risk and reduces risk during transport.
• Cleans and disinfects transport equipment before/after use.
• Adheres to infection prevention guidelines to ensure safety.
• Demonstrates AIDET during patient handoff and transport.
• Provides patient comfort by proper positioning and warmth, and communicates expectations of the process.
• Monitors patient condition during transport and reports changes.
• Communicates needs to nurses or clinical team and escalates concerns.
• Maintains inventory of supplies and transport equipment.
• Performs transports via electronic transport applications and dispatcher instructions.
