Job summary

Mary Washington Healthcare is seeking Patient Transporters to move patients safely and compassionately within the facility. You will assist patients in and out of wheelchairs, stretchers, or beds, secure equipment, and uphold infection prevention and safety standards throughout transport.

As frontline members of the patient care team, you’ll support patient flow, communicate changes to the nurse, and help ease anxiety during transfers.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• BLS certification required.
• Previous experience in a patient care setting preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Physical stamina to lift and move patients.

Responsibilities

• Transports patients within the facility by wheelchair, stretcher, or hospital bed.
• Ensures safe patient handling using proper transfer devices and body mechanics.
• Secures patient's medical equipment during transport.
• Monitors patient condition and communicates changes to the nurse.
• Performs hand-offs and documents transport details as needed.
• Maintains inventory and safe storage of transport equipment.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
