Job summary

Mary Washington Healthcare is seeking a dedicated Patient Transporter to move patients safely within the facility using wheelchairs, stretchers, or hospital beds. You will secure medical equipment, monitor patient conditions, and support infection prevention practices during transport.

Key responsibilities include assisting with transfers, maintaining equipment, and communicating with nursing staff to ensure seamless patient flow and comfort throughout the process.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• BLS certification required.
• Previous experience in a patient care setting preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy loads.

Responsibilities

• Transports patients safely via wheelchair, stretcher, or hospital bed within the facility.
• Secures patient equipment during transport and maintains cleanliness and safety.
• Identifies fall risk and implements fall reduction strategies.
• Cleans and disinfects transport equipment per hospital policy.
• Demonstrates proper hand-off communication at transitions of care.
• Maintains inventory of supplies and reports equipment malfunctions.
• Performs transport assignments as directed and uses transport applications.
