Job summary

MedStar Health is seeking a Transporter to move patient specimens, records, medications, and related items between nursing units and clinical areas. The role requires careful handling of patient belongings, adherence to safety protocols, and timely communication with clinical staff.

You will support continuity of care by ensuring accurate, secure, and prompt transport, while maintaining equipment and supply areas in clean condition. CPR certification and basic computer skills are required.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write and perform arithmetic calculations; required.
• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• CPR certification required; additional unit/specialty certifications may vary by department.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Basic computer skills preferred.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to pickup and delivery schedules for patient diagnostic results, medications, and records.
• Delivers and picks up messages, packages, medical records, and interoffice mail to offices and departments.
• Maintains cleanliness and organization of rooms, equipment, and designated areas.
• Observes patient conditions and equipment during transit and reports any issues to nursing personnel.
• Participates in multidisciplinary quality and service improvement teams.
