Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Patient Transporter to assist in moving patients and delivering supplies throughout the hospital. Responsibilities include escorting patients, aiding nursing staff with transfers, and maintaining transport logs.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
• Good interpersonal skills and a customer service orientation.

Responsibilities

• Escort ambulatory patients and transport by wheelchair, stretcher or bed.
• Assist nursing staff with patient transfer and positioning.
• Deliver beds, stretchers and wheelchairs; sanitize equipment.
• Transport specimens and materials to departments following infection control guidelines.
• Maintain Transporter Trip Log and operate the dispatch system.
• Provide handoff communication when patient is delivered to receiving unit.
