Job summary

Corewell Health seeks a Patient Transport teammate in Dearborn to move patients to and from examinations and treatments, ensuring safety and proper identification. You will support clinical workflows, clean equipment, and assist in discharging patients as needed.

The role emphasizes safe lifting, HIPAA compliance, and effective communication with care teams. Training provided; shifts typically from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Dearborn Hospital.

Qualifications

• Successfully completed three months of on-the-job training.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• BLS (AHA, American Heart Association) or BLS (ARC, American Red Cross) within 90 days of hire.
• Understand and demonstrate safe lifting and transport techniques.
• Knows and practices Universal Precautions as appropriate.
• Demonstrated communication skills to interact with courtesy, tact, empathy, and professionalism in daily interaction with patients, their families, clinical licensed and non-licensed staff, physicians, and management.
• Ability to understand and follow directions, ability to comply with HIPAA confidentiality requirements.
• The ability to recognize if the patient is experiencing stress or other issues during transport and immediately seek assistance.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients in and out of cars and move them using wheelchairs, gurneys, or moveable beds.
• Ensure proper patient identification before transport.
• Transport patients and equipment to testing and procedure areas including ICU.
• Communicate with medical staff to ensure required supplies and medications accompany the patient.
• Assist in toileting ambulatory patients under RN/medical staff direction.
• Clean and disinfect equipment; maintain clean work areas.
• Report malfunctioning equipment to the appropriate department.
• Participate in safety initiatives and complete required safety competencies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
