Job summary

Corewell Health is seeking a patient transport teammate at Troy Hospital to move patients and equipment, assist with transfers, and support inpatient and ICU care. You will follow unit procedures and maintain safety as part of the care team.

This part-time role requires on-site work, evening shifts, and adherence to HIPAA and Universal Precautions while delivering high-quality patient transport services.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of three months of on-the-job-training.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• BLS (AHA) or BLS (ARC) within 90 days of hire.
• Understands and demonstrates safe lifting and transport techniques.
• Knows and practices Universal Precautions as appropriate.
• Demonstrated communication skills to interact with courtesy, tact, empathy, and professionalism in daily interaction with patients, families, staff, physicians, and management.
• Ability to understand and follow directions, ability to comply with HIPAA confidentiality requirements.
• Ability to recognize if the patient is experiencing stress or other issues during transport and seek assistance.

Responsibilities

• Transports patients and equipment using wheelchairs, gurneys, or moveable beds.
• Prepares patient for transport and verifies identification.
• Transports patients and equipment to testing and procedure areas including ICU.
• Communicates with medical staff to ensure required supplies and medications are transported with the patient.
• Responsible for timely discharge of patients.
• Assists in toileting ambulatory patients under RN direction.
• Cleans and disinfects equipment and maintains clean work areas.
• Participates in safety initiatives and completes related competencies.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
