Job summary

BayCare Health System in Tampa Bay area seeks a dual-role Patient Care Technician, Cardiac Monitor Technician, Mental Health Tech and/or Unit Secretary. The role supports licensed nurses and delivers high-quality patient care across units.

Required BLS certification and either acute care experience or an approved BayCare internship program; High School diploma or equivalent is mandatory. Shift evenings, full-time, in-person. Equal Opportunity Employer Veterans/Disabled.

Qualifications

• Certification: BLS (Basic Life Support)
• Minimum requirements include 6 months acute care experience or 1-year Skilled Nursing Facility experience; or BayCare Nursing Assistant or PCT Internship; or RN Fundamentals; or LPN Programs; or EMT certification/Paramedic license (ER only); or completed PCT/Nursing Assistant program with at least 40 external clinical hours.
• Preferred: 1 year hospital experience in related field.
• Required: High School or Equivalent

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care in the clinical setting under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse.
• Assist with daily patient needs including hygiene, mobility, nutrition, toileting and safety.
• Document care provided and communicate with the care team.
• Perform validated skills such as telemetry lead placement, ostomy care/maintenance, catheter care and IV reseal as applicable.

This is a dual position that includes the primary job responsibilities of a Patient Care Technician & one of the following roles: Cardiac Monitor Technician, Mental Health Tech &/or Unit Secretary. Works under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse providing patient care in the clinical setting. Cares for a group of assigned patients with various needs to ensure safe, high-quality care is delivered. Care includes but not limited to, providing for patient's daily needs such as hygiene, mobility, nutrition, toileting, ensuring safety measures are in place, communication with patient and care team, documentation of care provided. Additional skills as validated include urinary catheter insertion and removal, removal IV reseal, superpubic catheter care, telemetry lead placement & ostomy care/maintenance.
