Job summary

BayCare Health System in the Tampa Bay area is seeking a dual-role Patient Care Technician and Cardiac Monitor Technician (or Mental Health Tech and/or Unit Secretary). You will work under a licensed nurse to deliver safe, high-quality patient care across a clinical setting.

Responsibilities include assisting with daily patient needs, documenting care, and coordinating with the care team. Certification in BLS is required, with multiple pathways to meet the minimum experience criteria.

Qualifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.
• Minimum of 6 months acute care experience; or 1-year Skilled Nursing Facility experience; or completion of a BayCare Nursing Assistant or PCT Internship; or RN/LP N program completion; or EMT certification for ER only; or completion of a PCT or Nursing Assistant program with 40 hours external clinical component.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care including hygiene, mobility, nutrition, and toileting.
• Ensure safety and communicate with patient and care team; document care provided.
• Support with telemetry lead placement, ostomy care/maintenance, and related tasks as validated.

Summary

This is a dual position that includes the primary job responsibilities of a Patient Care Technician & one of the following roles: Cardiac Monitor Technician, Mental Health Tech &/or Unit Secretary. Works under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse providing patient care in the clinical setting.
Cares for a group of assigned patients with various needs to ensure safe, high-quality care is delivered. Care includes but not limited to, providing for patient's daily needs such as hygiene, mobility, nutrition, toileting, ensuring safety measures are in place, communication with patient and care team, documentation of care provided. Additional skills as validated include urinary catheter insertion and removal, removal IV reseal, superpubic catheter care, telemetry lead placement & ostomy care/maintenance.

Minimum Qualifications

one of the following: 6 months acute care experience; or 1-year Skilled Nursing Facility experience; or successfully completes a BayCare sponsored Nursing Assistant or PCT Internship; or completion of Nursing Fundamentals (RN); or Nursing Foundation (LPN) Programs; or EMT certification for ER only; or completed a PCT or Nursing Assistant program which includes at least 40 hours of an external clinical component.
