Job summary

OrthoCarolina Fort Mill, SC is seeking a Patient Services Specialist to greet patients, prepare forms, verify and enter patient information into EPIC for accurate claims processing.

This role supports front desk operations in a 12‑hour urgent care setting, with excellent customer service, HIPAA compliance, and basic medical terminology knowledge; schedule is 30 hours weekly with alternating weeks.

Qualifications

• High school graduate and/or associate or bachelor's degree.
• Prefer minimum of one year experience in medical clinic setting.
• Experience with HIPAA and EPIC/EMR is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Greets patients and prepares forms for visits.
• Collects, verifies and enters patient information into EPIC for claims.
• Answers calls, schedules appointments and handles cashier duties including co-pays.

We are currently searching for a Patient Services Specialist to work with our OrthoCarolina Fort Mill, SC 12-Hr Orthopedic Urgent Care team. This position will average 30 hours per week.

The schedule would alternate as follows: Week 1: Three 12-hour shifts Week 2: Two 12-hour shifts.

The Patient Services Specialist greets patients, prepares forms, collects, verifies and enters patient information into EPIC necessary for the timely and accurate processing of patient claims.

Essential Functions:

• Prepares paperwork necessary for the patient visit.
• Answers incoming phone calls and directs calls, makes appointments, performs Cashier duties as directed including posting of charges, Collection of co-payments/co-insurance and balances due.
• Follows the process for release of medical information and FMLA/disability forms completion as requested.

Skills and Abilities:

• Excellent customer service skills
• Working knowledge of insurance Epic/EMR background a plus
• Medical terminology
