Job summary

Children's National Hospital in Rockville, MD, is seeking a Clinic Operations Representative to provide patient services and administrative support in our clinic operations. You will interact with families, physicians and staff in a courteous manner, verify demographics and insurance, and assist with scheduling and registrations.

This role offers growth toward Senior Clinic Operations Rep or Team Lead. Knowledge of HIPAA privacy rules is expected.

Qualifications

• Broad clinic knowledge, customer service skills.
• Computer knowledge necessary; Microsoft Office experience preferred (Word & Excel).
• Complete Ambulatory Services training curriculum and pass all competency assessments, including a mock clinic.
• The ability to type minimum of 35 words per minute required.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate accuracy of scheduling patients using the applicable scheduling system for the department.
• Complete computer aided, on-line registration screen with parent/guardian via telephone or in person in professional & courteous manner.
• Collect accurate demographic and insurance information; update systems as needed per department standards.
• Reschedule appointments for no-shows and cancellations; schedule follow-ups at check out when applicable.
• Greet patients and parents courteously; enter patient in the appropriate system per policy.
• Obtain required consents and ensure distribution of compliance materials (HIPAA notices, patient rights).
• Obtain insurance card copies and store in medical records; ensure forms are documented per policy.
• Verify insurance eligibility and notify of referrals/pre-authorizations as needed.
• Collect and record co-pays and payments; maintain cash controls and targets.
