Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a Patient Service Representative for the Barnabas Health Medical Group Endocrinology & Metabolic Specialist practice. You will warmly welcome patients, process check-in/check-out, and coordinate visits with physicians and staff to ensure smooth daily operations.

You will review schedules, assist with insurance pre-authorizations, maintain patient records, and protect patient privacy in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience in a physician practice setting.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Epic experience and endocrinology exposure preferred.
• Spanish bilingual skills a plus.

Responsibilities

• Welcomes patients and handles check-in/check-out with professionalism and compassion.
• Prepares for visits by reviewing schedules and information.
• Schedules appointments and coordinates follow-up visits.
• Answers routine questions in person and by phone with excellent service.
• Performs clerical tasks: copying, scanning, faxing, sorting, and mail distribution.
• Creates and maintains patient health records and organizes information.

As a Patient Service Representative (PSR), a typical day might include the following:

• Welcoming patients and performing patient check-in and check-out functions with professionalism and compassion.
• Preparing for patient visits by reviewing schedules and ensuring all necessary information is available.
• Scheduling patient appointments and coordinating follow-up visits as needed.
• Answering routine questions in person and over the telephone while providing exceptional customer service.
• Performing clerical responsibilities including copying, scanning, faxing, sorting, and distributing mail.
• Creating, maintaining, filing, and organizing patient health record information.
• Coordinating with insurance providers and handling pre-authorizations and certifications as necessary.
• Protecting patient privacy and contributing to a safe, efficient, and welcoming practice environment.

To be considered for this opportunity, you must have a High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) and a minimum of two years of experience in a physician practice setting. Candidates must demonstrate a clear understanding of the importance of patient satisfaction and safety and possess strong oral and written communication skills. Preferred qualifications include an Epic experience and experience inEndocrinology.Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
