Job summary

Apicha Community Health Center in Manhattan seeks a Patient Associate to register patients, collect payments, and enter data into the EMR. The role supports patient flow, answers calls, and schedules appointments in a fast-paced clinic.

Required are a high school diploma with experience, strong customer service, and English proficiency; Spanish is a plus. Proficiency with Word/Excel and familiarity with EMR systems are expected. Evening/weekend hours may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with 2 years of experience.
• Some college education with 1 year of experience preferred.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Experience in outpatient clinic reception preferred.
• Written and verbal English communication skills required.
• Proficient in Word and Excel; accurate data entry required.
• Able to work independently and in a team.
• Ability to sit in front of computer long hours.
• Experience with HIV/AIDS population preferred.
• Flexible hours including evenings and weekends.
• Knowledge of eClinicalWorks EMR preferred.

Responsibilities

• Register patients and collect co-pays and payments.
• Enter registration information into EMR.
• Receive, redirect, and record messages from calls.
• Assist with patient flow and scheduling.
• Verify insurance eligibility and obtain pre-authorization when needed.
• Perform light bookkeeping and maintain office environment.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with policies.
• Participate in Quality Improvement activities.
• Assist with referrals and patient retention.
