Job summary

University Hospitals Urgent Care is seeking a Patient Service Representative to be the friendly first point of contact, managing front-office operations and supporting clinical workflow.

You will verify insurance, collect payments, maintain documents, and collaborate with the care team while upholding HIPAA and OSHA standards. This role requires flexibility for 12-hour shifts on a 3-day/12-hour schedule.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; Medical Administrative Assistant certificate a plus.
• 1+ year of experience in a medical office or healthcare setting preferred.
• Strong communication, attention to detail, and ability to multitask in a busy environment.
• Experience using EMR software, EPIC preferred.
• Ability to work 12-hour shifts, including some weekends and holidays.
• Team-oriented, patient-focused approach to service.

Responsibilities

• Warm Welcome: Greet and assist all patients and visitors with a positive attitude.
• Patient and Business Documentation: Maintain confidentiality while collecting and organizing documents.
• Insurance Verification: Analyze health insurance benefits, verify eligibility, and provide payment policies.
• Financial Responsibility: Determine and collect each patient’s financial responsibility.
• Collaborative Support: Assist the practice manager, providers, and staff to ensure smooth daily operations.
• Compliance: Follow HIPAA and OSHA standards and ensure documentation follows guidelines.
• Administrative Duties: Perform office procedures and operate medical equipment.
• Quality Assurance: Oversee compliance with quality programs and lab requirements.
• Travel Requirement: Support staffing by traveling to other locations as needed.
