Job summary

The University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB Health) seeks a Patient Services Specialist I to enhance the patient experience by coordinating clerical and medical activities, patient registration, and access to UTMB services for new and returning patients.

You will deliver high-level customer service, schedule appointments, educate on billing processes, protect confidentiality, and collaborate with the care team to streamline clinic operations and patient flow.

Qualifications

• Proficient in PC use with Excel, Word, and database management.
• Analytical with ability to collect and trend data.
• Knowledge of patient care and patient problems.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provides high level customer service in all interactions with internal and external customers.
• Coordinates clerical and medical activities of a healthcare team, patient registration activities, and facilitating access to UTMB services.
• Pre-registers patients, verifies eligibility and documents information for third-party reimbursement.
• Educates patients on billing processes and financial responsibilities including third-party benefits.
• Maintains patient confidentiality and ensures secure handling of information.
• Disposes of printed patient information securely and adheres to internal controls.
