The Douglas County Health Department is seeking a Patient Services Representative to support clinic operations, including patient registration, insurance verification, checkout, and payment collection. You will use Athena to maintain patient and insurance information and support accurate billing while delivering welcoming and confidential service.

Responsibilities include verifying eligibility, explaining billing and payment options, and coordinating with clinical and billing staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience in customer service, a medical office, patient registration, insurance verification, or payment collection preferred.
• Experience with Athena or another electronic health record or practice management system preferred.
• Bilingual preferred.

Responsibilities

• Verify insurance eligibility and benefits before appointments and update information as needed.
• Identify copayments, deductibles, coinsurance, and coverage limitations.
• Communicate referrals or authorization requirements to staff.
• Assist patients with financial assistance or sliding fee applications and collect required income documentation.
• Complete patient checkout and schedule follow-up appointments as directed.
