Job summary

Mercy Clinic Gastroenterology is hiring a Patient Service Representative to greet and register patients, manage check-in/check-out, handle phones, and perform Epic charting and clerical tasks. The role supports scheduling, billing processes, and ensuring smooth clinic flow in a busy gastroenterology clinic.

The position emphasizes accuracy, confidentiality, and strong customer service within a fast-paced team environment. Weekend coverage is not required, and training will be provided.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Customer service experience is preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, insurance, and billing processes.

Responsibilities

• Greet and register patients; verify identity and manage checkin/checkout.
• Answer phones and perform clerical tasks including Epic charting, scanning, faxing, and document handling.
• Schedule appointments, procedures, and testing; provide timely estimates and Good Faith Estimates.
• Monitor provider schedules, communicate delays, and coordinate with staff to ensure efficient clinic flow.
• Maintain accurate registration, EHRs, and assigned work queues.
• Handle patient concerns professionally.
• Manage daily cash drawer, accounts receivable tasks, and payment plans.
• Support EPIC updates, departmental initiatives, and clinic communications.
• Maintain a safe, clean reception area and adhere to safety, privacy, and infection control policies.
• Perform other duties as assigned

Schedule: Full Time | 40 Hours/Week | Mon-Fri | 7:30am -4pm or 8am -4:30pm

Qualifications:

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent.

• Experience: Customer service experience preferred
