Job summary

Central Ohio Primary Care Physicians, Inc. in Columbus, OH is seeking a patient services representative to deliver excellent front-desk service from check-in to checkout. You will verify insurance, collect copays, and schedule follow-ups while supporting telehealth and phone inquiries.

The role requires strong communication, multitasking, and HIPAA compliance in a busy medical office; 1 year healthcare administration or related experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required or at least six months customer service or healthcare experience.
• Preference for 1 year of administrative experience in a healthcare setting.
• Valid Driver License and reliable transportation required.

Responsibilities

• Register patients and verify insurance; collect copays and balances.
• Greet patients and complete check-in; schedule follow-ups and communicate at checkout.
• Answer calls and emails from patients and COPC departments in a timely manner.
• Coordinate data entry, filing, scanning, and general office support.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
• Support front desk operations and EPIC duties as needed.
• Work with clinical staff to ensure a positive patient experience.

Job description

This position is a key point of contact for patients and provides patients and guests with a positive customer service experience from start to finish during their visit.

• Full Time/Benefits Eligible
• Monday-Thursday - 8:00am-4:30pm, Friday - 8:00am-4:00pm
• Columbus, OH

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Ensure patients have a positive experience during their visit, whether in-person, telehealth and/or over the phone.
• Communicate regularly with clinical staff to ensure patients and office needs are met. Collaborate with team to create a positive patient experience.
• Greet patients and complete established check-in procedures upon arrival. Responsible for registration, including data entry of patient information and insurance verification.
• Collect copays, deductibles and/or outstanding balances.
• Responsible for checking patients out and scheduling follow up appointments and communicating necessary items at time of check out.
• Answer phone calls and email inquiries from patients and COPC administrative departments in a timely manner; direct or expand inquiries when needed. Contact patients for appointment reminders or scheduling purposes.
• Complete clerical tasks including but not limited to distributing mail and reports, filing, scanning, scheduling, data input, management of electronic fax inbox and general support to all office personnel.
• Ensure confidentiality of patient data and stay up to date with HIPAA regulations.
• Working patient portal with potential to rotate to the front office working check-in and check-out.

Qualifications :

Experience, Education, Licensures & Certifications

• Preferred: 1 year of administrative experience in a healthcare related setting
• Required: High School diploma or GED; or at least six (6) months customer service or healthcare experience
• Required: Valid Driver License and reliable transportation

• Excellent computer skills, knowledge of Microsoft programs, and understanding of Electronic Health Record ( EHR systems)
