Job summary

Syracuse Orthopedic Specialists, PC is seeking a Patient Service Representative to join the front desk team. You will be the first face patients see, greet them warmly, check them in, and set a positive tone from the moment they walk through our doors.

You will handle check-in/check-out, verify information, schedule appointments, collect co-pays, review benefits, and support the clinical and billing teams as needed. A strong customer-service mindset and EMR/PM familiarity are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of two years in a customer service setting; medical office preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and EMR/PM systems helpful.
• Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail and ability to multi-task.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and answer phones in a welcoming front desk role.
• Check-in patients and verify appointment and billing information.
• Schedule appointments and collect co-pays/co-insurance.
• Assist with New Patient Intake, review paperwork, input demographics.
• Review benefits with patients and explain missed appointment policy.
• Check-out and schedule follow-up appointments per clinician's instructions.
• Assist billing and medical records processes as needed.
• Support FOTO status surveys and maintenance of patient statistics.

We are looking for a Patient Service Representative to join our team! We're looking for an outgoing, welcoming Patient Service Representative to be the first face our patients see! In this front desk role, you'll greet patients as they arrive, check them in, and help set the tone for a positive experience from the moment they walk through our doors.

Responsibilities:

• General reception to include greeting patients and answering phone
• Check-in patients and verify appointment and billing information
• Schedule appointments
• Collect co-pays and co-insurance
• New Patient Intake & Registration
  • Review paperwork for completeness
  • Input patient demographic information in computer system
  • Review benefits with patient
  • Review missed appointment policy with patient
  • Set-up FOTO Intake Survey
• Check-out patients and schedule follow-up appointments per the clinician’s instructions
• Assist Clinical staff with follow-up FOTO status surveys
• Assist Central Billing Office (CBO) with Medical Records Request per Policy & Procedure
• Monitor/Track Plans of Care (POC’s) for Certification
• Log discharged patients in computer system
• Scan documentation, prescriptions, protocols, flow sheets, HEP’s, and other information into the patient (electronic) medical records
• Maintain Active Patient statistics and scheduled appointments
• Log discharged patients in computer system
• Other responsibilities as needed

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED
• Minimum of two years of experience in customer service setting, preferably one year receptionist experience in a medical office.
• Knowledge of medical terminology
• Exceptional customer service skills required;
• Experience working with an EMR/PM required;
• Exceptional written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills;
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail;
• Quick thinker with ability to pivot in a fast-paced environment;
• Ability to multi-task in a high-volume environment is a must;
