Job summary

Saint Alphonsus Health System is seeking a Patient Service Representative to join the SAMG Clerical Float Pool. In this role you will work with physicians and clinical staff to assist patients with administrative needs, check in for appointments, collect co-pays, answer calls, schedule visits, and verify insurance eligibility using EPIC.

This full-time position offers exposure to multiple medical specialties, with hours typically from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM and weekend coverage.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous customer service experience required. Healthcare experience preferred. Electronic health record (EHR) experience a plus. Medical terminology preferred.
• Experience with process improvement or lean philosophy preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greets and assists patients, ensuring a positive experience.
• Registers patients for appointments and completes paperwork.
• Verifies and updates patient and insurance information.
• Checks in patients and collects co-pays.
• Explains delays and manages patient wait times.
• Maintains knowledge of payer practices and deductibles.
• Assists with Financial Assistance paperwork.
• Balances daily financial activities per Cash Control Policy.
