Job summary

University Hospitals Urgent Care is seeking a Patient Service Representative to be the first point of contact for patients, delivering a warm, efficient front-desk experience in a busy clinic.

You will handle front-office operations, assist with administrative tasks, verify insurance, collect payments, support overall workflow, and ensure HIPAA/OSHA compliance in a patient‑focused environment. This is a full-time role with 3-day/12-hour shifts (8 AM–8 PM) and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Medical Administrative Assistant certificate is a plus.
• 1+ year of experience in a medical office or healthcare setting preferred.
• Strong communication, attention to detail, and multitasking skills in a busy environment.
• Experience with EMR software, EPIC preferred.
• Ability to work 12-hour shifts, including some weekends and holidays.
• Team-oriented, proactive patient-focused service approach.

Responsibilities

• Greet and assist patients and visitors with a positive attitude.
• Maintain confidentiality and organize patient and business documents.
• Verify health insurance benefits and provide billing information.
• Determine and collect patients' financial responsibility.
• Support the practice manager, providers and staff for smooth operations.
• Ensure HIPAA and OSHA compliance in all documentation and processes.
• Perform office procedures and operate medical equipment.
• Oversee quality assurance programs and patient result trackers.
• Travel to other UH Urgent Care locations as needed.
