Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health seeks a patient care teammate for a 32-hour weekly night shift (11:00 PM–7:30 AM) with rotating weekends and holidays. You will observe patients, assist with rounding, ensure safety, handle transport and documentation, and support care teams under RN supervision in a dynamic hospital unit.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, Basic Life Support within three months of hire, and de-escalation training during orientation.

Qualifications

• High School diploma/GED or near completion of High School Health Sciences program.
• Basic Life Support certification within 3 months of hire.
• De-escalation training during orientation.

Responsibilities

• Direct and continuous observation of patient at a distance no greater than arm’s length.
• Participate in patient rounding as directed by the RN.
• Ensure environmental safety for patient.
• Answer call lights and direct care issues to the RN.
• Restock department supplies and equipment.
• Transport patients within the department and to in-hospital locations as needed.
• Document patient care activities and maintain patient safety sitter competencies.
• Communicate changes in patient behavior to the RN.
• Contribute to quality improvement initiatives on the unit.
• Respect cultural beliefs and utilize interpreter services as needed.
