Job summary

Qualifications

• Post secondary education or training in medical office administration or healthcare administration preferred.
• 0-2 years of experience in a healthcare setting including patient registration, medical office scheduling, or front desk/admissions required.
• 0-2 years of experience in a customer service role preferred.

Responsibilities

• Interact with patients and families to provide courteous, timely assistance.
• Regulate schedules based on procedure requirements, physician availability, and staffing needs.
• Schedule patient procedures and pre-register patients with accurate demographic information.
• Verify insurance eligibility using designated applications and secure necessary authorizations.
• Record patient financial responsibility estimates as applicable.
• Communicate operative reports daily to physician offices.
• Compile and organize registration documentation for patient records.
• Collect co-pays or deductibles and inform patients of financial obligations.
• Assist patients with understanding insurance requirements and resolve related questions.
• Document consent forms when patient cannot sign and note signatures as needed.
• Place armbands on patients for identification during stay.
• Answer and return phone calls professionally.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
