Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; certification in medical office administration is a plus.
• Healthcare setting experience, preferably in appointment scheduling or customer service.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with patients and healthcare professionals.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Empathetic, compassionate demeanor with ability to handle sensitive patient situations.
• Proficiency in scheduling software and electronic medical records (EMR).
• Meticulous attention to detail in patient records and scheduling.
• Ability to collaborate with colleagues and adapt to changing priorities.

Responsibilities

• Receive, review, and process new and established patient referrals from healthcare providers and other sources.
• Communicate with referring providers to obtain complete referral documentation.
• Enter referral information into the EMR system and ensure data accuracy.
• Schedule appointments and coordinate with clinical staff.
• Verify authorizations and coordinate prior approvals; enter copays and insurance data in eCW.
• Verify insurance plans and coverage options for patients.
• Gather patient clinical background and referral needs information.
• Review referral details with patients and answer appointment questions.
• Perform referrals through P2P for MIPS.
• Maintain HIPAA and privacy compliance and protect patient information.
• Support management with additional administrative tasks as needed.
