United Digestive is seeking a Referral Coordinator to manage patient scheduling, documentation, and interdepartmental coordination in a gastroenterology practice. The role requires handling appointments, referrals, and ancillary services while ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.

The position emphasizes strong computer literacy, experience in gastroenterology settings, and the ability to travel among metro-area offices for coverage.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; CMA preferred.
• 2-3 years of specialty gastroenterology clinic experience preferred.
• Bilingual preferred, but not required.
• Staff must be computer literate and able to operate healthcare system and MS Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Schedules, reschedules, and manages cancellations and no-shows for patient visits and procedures.
• Maintains/updates physicians’ schedules and endoscopy block times.
• Collects and records accurate patient information per UD requirements.
• Coordinates scheduling of procedures in hospital when necessary.
• Mails/emails information packets to new patients.
• Answers calls and questions regarding appointments and information from referring providers.
• Greets onsite patients promptly and helpfully.
• Counsels patients/family with information on treatments.
• Meets quality and productivity standards set by Practice Manager.
• Responds to emails/voicemails and returns patient calls promptly.
• Facilitates information requests to ensure payment by UD staff.
• Abides by HIPAA confidentiality.
• Liaises between office and referring practices/hospitals.
• Participates in staff meetings and marketing activities.
• Cross-trains for other office functions as directed.
• Travels to Metro area office locations for coverage.
• Performs any other duties as assigned.
