Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Healthcare or medical office experience 3–5 years required.
• Proficiency in Windows-based applications, especially Excel and Word.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills across all levels.

Responsibilities

• Handles referrals from providers and patients and schedules appointments.
• Obtains demographic and insurance information and verifies eligibility for new patients.
• Registers new patients into the system and prepares new patient charts.
• Schedules patients in system per physician/office guidelines; notifies staff of changes.
• Obtains and enters authorization and related referral correspondence.
• Serves as receptionist, answering calls and guiding visitors to appropriate staff.
• Ensures timely submission of hospital charges for billing; interacts with third-party vendors as needed.
• Performs other job functions as requested.
