Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a hospital food service associate to coordinate patient meals and support the nutrition team. You will take orders, orient patients to room service, and ensure diet orders are followed while assisting guest services and dietitians.

You will deliver meals, collect trays, document calories for patients, and note allergies and preferences in patient records. A strong focus on customer service and safety is essential.

Qualifications

• Typically requires 1 year of face-to-face customer service.
• Strong knowledge in food service from hospital, restaurant or related environment.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to multitask, route calls, greet patients, place orders, and troubleshoot food related issues.
• Must be self-directed and able to work independently.
• Excellent phone etiquette.
• Ability to read and understand written and oral communications.
• Knowledge of food/drug interactions and food allergens.

Responsibilities

• Acts as key contact between food and nutrition and the patient.
• Delivers meals and collects patient trays; records intake for calories.
• Receives and processes diet changes; documents allergies and preferences.
• Utilizes software to balance nutrients per diet order and allergies.
• Maintains patient information, runs reports and communicates with departments.
• Loads and transports food carts and delivers patient trays to rooms.
• Communicates patient needs to relevant departments; follows safety standards.
• Maintains sanitation standards and isolation precautions during service.
