Job summary

Advocate Health Care seeks a patient-focused Food Service Associate to acts as a liaison between food service and patients. You will deliver meals, collect trays, and ensure patient satisfaction while recording intake and communicating with dietitians.

You will process diet changes, document allergies/interactions, and use software to balance nutrients per diet orders. The role requires safety awareness and teamwork with nursing staff.

• Ability to multitask, route calls, greet patients, place orders, and troubleshoot food issues.

Responsibilities

• Acts as key contact between food service and patients; orients to Room Service and department services.
• Delivers meals, collects trays, ensures patient satisfaction, records intake for calorie counts.
• Processes diet changes, documents allergies/interactions, balances nutrients per diet orders.
• Maintains patient information, reports quality issues to management and dietitians.
• Generates reports, communicates information, balances ticket flow with the line expeditor.
• Loads/transports food carts; delivers meals to patient rooms and lounges.
• Communicates patient needs to relevant departments (food & nutrition, nursing).
• Adheres to safety/sanitation standards; may enter patient isolation rooms; handles hazardous kitchen items.
• Performs inventory and orders floor stock on patient units.
