Job summary

Baptist Health in Corbin, KY seeks a Cook I for full-time 1st shift to support Care Cuisine patient meals, cafeteria and events. You will prepare and present meals, ensure portions, temperatures, and dietary needs are met, and maintain sanitation and safe food handling.

No formal education is required; a HS diploma or GED preferred. Training will cover equipment use and adherence to hospital policies, with opportunities to assist training of new staff and contribute to patient satisfaction.

Qualifications

• No minimum education or prior experience required.
• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• One to three months of related experience preferred.
• Food Handler Card or ServSafe certification preferred.
• No professional license or additional certification required.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and cooks meals for patients, cafeteria customers, and special events using standardized recipes.
• Ensures proper food portions, quality, temperature, and compliance with patient dietary requirements.
• Maintains food safety and sanitation standards, including proper storage, labeling, dating, and rotation.
• Safely operates kitchen equipment and maintains clean, organized food preparation and storage areas.
• Monitors food supplies, replenishes items, and prepares food for upcoming meal services.
• Follows hospital policies, infection control procedures, and workplace safety guidelines.
• Assists with training and orientation of new employees and supports daily food service operations.
