Job summary

Bristol Bay Area Health Corporation is seeking a Medical Receptionist (Itinerant) for the Naknek clinic. The role serves as the first point of contact, handling patient registration, scheduling, and insurance verification while coordinating patient travel and maintaining HIPAA compliance.

Responsibilities include data entry in the EHR, appointment management, Medicaid documentation, and phone support. The position supports multiple village clinics and requires travel for training/workshops.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Prior office or medical office experience preferred.
• Basic computer and EHR skills; ability to type 40 wpm.
• Proficient with multi-line phones and office equipment.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Organized, dependable, and able to multitask.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
• CPR/BLS certification (or ability to obtain).
• Willingness to travel for training/workshop.

Responsibilities

• Register patients, verify insurance, and enter data into the EHR
• Schedule appointments and manage check-in/check-out
• Collect and verify Medicaid, HPE, and sliding fee applications
• Answer and route phone calls; assist patient inquiries
• Coordinate Medicaid travel and prepare required documentation
• Scan, fax, file, and manage clinic documents
• Maintain reception and waiting areas
• Assist with patient surveys and customer comments
• Order office supplies and maintain clinic files
• Coordinate scheduling and outreach with BBAHC departments
• Train staff on registration procedures as needed
• Perform other duties as assigned
