Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to support patient care in a busy Charlotte, NC area clinic. You will perform rooming tasks, document health history, assist with procedures, and handle lab duties including venipuncture and POCT.

Vaccinations, medications, and referrals are also part of the role. The position requires a high school diploma or GED and completion of an approved MA program or equivalent clinical training; military clinical training may be accepted.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or equivalent clinical training.
• Military training in a clinical setting may be accepted in lieu of a formal MA program.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to scope of practice and maintains competency across care tasks.
• Performs rooming tasks: vitals, med history, screenings and health maintenance.
• Assists provider with procedures as ordered.
• Performs lab duties including venipuncture, specimen handling, POCT and CLIA-waived tests.
• Administers medications and vaccines per medication rights.
• Handles referrals, insurance authorizations, scheduling, and messaging.
• Maintains clean, stocked work area and ensures equipment is functional.
• Communicates effectively and escalates issues when needed.
• May assist training of teammates and act as a role model.
• Delivers age-appropriate care across the patient life span according to policy.
