Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Medical Assistant in Charlotte, NC to perform patient rooming, vital signs, history taking, and screening tasks under the supervision of clinicians. You will assist providers with procedures, conduct lab duties including venipuncture and POCT, and administer medications and vaccines following safety protocols.

The role requires adherence to MA scope, strong communication, and ability to work across multiple departments.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required.
Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or structured military training in lieu of a formal MA program.
For IL/WI divisions: High School Diploma or GED and completion of an accredited/approved MA program or 2 years verifiable MA experience in last 5 years.
Wake Forest: High School Diploma or GED; completion of MA program or DD214 in lieu of program.

Responsibilities

Adheres to MA scope of practice and follows policies.
Performs rooming/visit tasks including vital signs, med reconciliation, history, screenings.
Assists provider with procedures as ordered.
Performs lab duties including venipuncture, specimen handling, POCT per standing order.
Administers medications and vaccines following rights of administration.
Handles refills, authorizations, scheduling, referrals as assigned.
Cross trained for duties relevant to clinic practice within MA scope.
Demonstrates effective communication and teamwork.
