Job summary

Allegheny Health Network seeks a Medical Assistant to support patient care under physician supervision. You will prepare patients, obtain vital signs, review medication lists in the EHR, and assist with examinations and procedures.

The role requires completing a Medical Assistant program and obtaining certification within 120 days of hire; an Associate's Degree is preferred. CPR and background clearances are part of the requirements, with potential travel between offices.

Qualifications

• High School / GED or Completion of a Medical Assistant Program.
• Certification within 120 days of hire if applicable; certification training/test within 30 days of hire.
• Accepted Medical Assistant Certification (NHA, AAMA, AMT, NCCT, AMCA).
• Associate's Degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate patient care under supervision of the healthcare provider.
• Prepare and room patients; obtain vital signs and document history.
• Review and update medication lists in the EHR.
• Perform back office testing per AHN policies.
• Assist providers with examinations and procedures.
• May serve as a scribe with additional training.
• Provide follow-up with patients by preferred method.
• Maintain stocked exam rooms and inventory.
• Sterilize instruments and perform lab controls as assigned.
• Document in the EHR and perform clerical duties.
• May float between physician office locations.
