Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a Patient Logistics Coordinator to optimize bed utilization and ensure efficient patient placement across AHN facilities. You will verify insurance coverage, coordinate transfers with physicians and care teams, and monitor bed availability to reduce wait times.

The role requires strong PC skills, medical terminology knowledge, and experience with insurance verification and call centers.

Qualifications

High School/GED or six months of equivalent experience.
Experience operating a PC with multiple screens and various software applications.
Experience using a multichannel phone system.
Medical terminology and insurance verification experience.
Call center experience.

Responsibilities

Optimize bed utilization and patient placement by analyzing triage notes and hospital protocols.
Coordinate patient transfers with physicians, care managers, hospital operations, clinical teams, and referring hospitals.
Monitor bed availability and cleanliness to minimize wait times and ensure smooth patient flow.
Escalate delays and issues to the Transfer Center clinical team to ensure timely resolution.
Field transfer request calls and provide timely, accurate information to stakeholders.
Develop and implement strategies to reduce wait times and improve efficiency in patient placement.
