Job summary

This role uses triage notes and hospital protocols to assign patients to the most clinically appropriate unit, verifies insurance coverage, and coordinates with payer contacts and EMR systems to support efficient patient flow.

Qualifications

• High School/GED or six months or equivalent experience.
• Experience operating a PC, using multiple screens, and various software applications.
• Experience using a multichannel phone system.
• Medical terminology and insurance verification experience.
• Call Center Experience.
• OR, one previous year of related experience, preferably within a medical setting, financial services, or a high volume fast paced customer service area.

Responsibilities

• Leverages EMR registration and bed request data to identify and resolve bottlenecks in patient flow and improve bed utilization.
• Identifies and resolves potential patient placement challenges.
• Maintains accurate EMR of bed assignments and patient insurance information.
• Facilitates patient transfers by collaborating with physicians, care managers, hospital operations, clinical teams, and referring hospitals.
• Monitors bed availability and cleanliness to expedite patient placement and minimize wait times.
• Escalates delays and concerns to Transfer Center clinical team.
• Fields incoming transfer request calls.
• Develops and implements strategies to optimize bed utilization and reduce wait times.
• Analyzes data related to patient placement to identify efficiency improvements.
