Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge.
• Requires knowledge of patient financial services, financial, collecting services or insurance industry experience processes normally acquired over one or more years of work experience.
• Requires strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills to effectively interact with a wide range of audiences.
• Strong knowledge in the use of common office software, word processing, spreadsheet, and database software are required.

Responsibilities

• Performs registration/check-in processes, including data entry and obtaining signatures.
• Verifies insurance eligibility benefits and assists in obtaining pre-certifications, referrals, and authorizations.
• Calculates and collects patient liability and explains financial policies to patients and families.
• Enters payments/charges and balances cash drawer; prepares daily bank deposit for centralized billing.
• Schedules office visits and procedures, maximizing reimbursement per payor plan provisions.
• Demonstrates proactive interpersonal communication to address patient concerns via calls, emails, and in-person interactions.
• Assists with requests for patient medical records per policy and laws.
• Provides services to assist patient flow (escorting, taking vitals, distributing mail, etc.).
• Works independently in a fast-paced environment with changing payor information to ensure timely patient care.
