Job summary

UW Medicine’s Insurance Eligibility and Financial Counseling Services (IECS) team is seeking a Patient Financial Counselor for a 100% FTE day shift. This onsite role for the first six months may transition to hybrid after probation.

You will interview patients to determine insurance coverage and/or Financial Assistance while preparing fee estimates and guiding enrollment in Medicaid/Financial assistance programs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1 year of experience in a medical office setting preferred.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for stated requirements.

Responsibilities

• Interview patients to determine insurance opportunities and needs.
• Complete applications for Health Care Exchange, Medicaid, Medicaid Expansion, and Medicare Part D.
• Manage a high volume of phone inquiries and referrals.
• Manage UW Medicine’s Financial Assistance application process.
