Job summary

Providence Swedish in Seattle is seeking a Patient Financial Counselor to help patients understand their financial responsibilities, navigate payment options, and access resources with dignity. This onsite role works closely with care teams to coordinate all aspects of private-pay accounts.

You will communicate costs, deposit estimates, and payment plans, partnering with physicians and staff to resolve financial concerns.

Qualifications

  • 3 years experience in patient financial services or medical billing in a hospital business office
  • 5 years of experience without degree
  • Associate's Degree --or-- Additional experience may be substituted for no degree

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and manage all aspects of patient financial obligations for private-pay accounts
  • Provide clear communication and education regarding financial responsibilities, payment options, and estimated costs of care
  • Calculate, communicate, and collect patient deposit estimates in accordance with organizational policies
  • Partner with physicians, clinical teams, and other stakeholders to address patient financial concerns and facilitate resolutions
  • Respond promptly and professionally to patient inquiries, concerns, and complaints, ensuring issues are documented and resolved effectively
  • Build positive relationships with patients and families by providing empathetic, customer-centered support
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by identifying opportunities to enhance service, processes, and patient experience
