Job summary

Banner Health in Scottsdale is seeking a Financial Counselor within the Revenue Cycle to coordinate all financial aspects of care, including insurance verification, registration, and counseling. You will partner with clinicians to determine financial impact and serve as the main contact for patient financial questions across the care continuum.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in social work, healthcare administration or finance required.
• Must have at least three years of hospital Patient Registration/Financial Services experience.
• Bachelor's degree in related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Pre-registration/registration; coordinate authorizations based on plan.
• Verify insurance coverage and obtain authorizations throughout treatment.
• Provide financial counseling to patients and families; explain options and resources.
• Provide financial advocacy and assist uninsured patients to access funding.
• Act as liaison between patient, PFS, and payer to maximize reimbursement.
• Calculate patient liability; collect deposits and co-payments.
• May lead and train other financial team members; serve as a resource.
• Work independently in a fast-paced environment to prioritize care.
