Qualifications

• Associate's Degree or higher with focus in social work, healthcare administration or finance.
• Minimum three years of diversified experience in hospital Patient Registration/Financial Services.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance/payor types; accurate data entry.

Responsibilities

• Pre-registration and registration; obtain initial authorizations and insurance information.
• Verify insurance coverage; obtain authorizations and document in records; monitor changes.
• Provide financial counseling and discuss insurance and billing options with patients/families.
• Provide financial advocacy and assist uninsured patients in accessing funding resources.
• Act as liaison between patient, PFS, and payers to optimize receivables and service quality.
• Calculate patient liability after verifying benefits; collect deposits and co-pays.
• Potential leadership/training role within the financial team.
• Work independently in a fast-paced setting, coordinating care funding information across payors.
