Job summary

LewisGale Hospital Pulaski is hiring a Patient Financial Counselor to review financial clearance worklists, estimate patient liabilities, and explain financial responsibilities to patients and physicians. The role collaborates with Medicaid staff to verify coverage and supports patients through the financial process.

The position requires strong customer service, familiarity with insurance verification, and the ability to manage daily financial tasks using hospital systems.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• 1 year of related experience required.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Follow AIDET guidelines in all interactions with the patient.
• Demonstrates excellent customer service.
• In conjunction with the Medicaid Eligibility Staff visit all uninsured patients in-house.
• Provide estimates to patients and/or physicians as requested.
• Generate insurance verification and precertification reports daily and follow up with case management and insurance verification departments as appropriate.
• Enter pertinent insurance information into the HIS system (i.e. Meditech).
• Assist patients with payment arrangements and in co-ordination with the Medicaid Eligibility Staff assists patient with financial applications.
• Escalates any concerns as needed to Patient Access Manager/Supervisor.
