Job summary

CommonSpirit Health is seeking a Financial Counselor to help patients understand their insurance benefits and available financial options. You will guide patients through billing practices, pre-collections, and setting up payment arrangements in a compassionate, faith-based healthcare setting.

You will identify resources such as Medicaid, Marketplace plans, COBRA, and charity care, coordinate with clinic staff, and communicate approvals or denials to ensure timely, compliant financial assistance

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in health care revenue cycle or registration is preferred.
• Experience in healthcare collections or customer service is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive financial counseling to patients, explaining insurance benefits and available financial options.
• Discuss billing practices, pre-collections, and setting up payment arrangements.
• Identify potential financial resources such as Medicaid, Marketplace plans, COBRA and charity programs.
• Obtain cost estimates and assist with charity care or financial assistance applications.
• Communicate approvals/denials to clinical staff and ensure patients understand all pathways before treatment begins.
