Job summary

Springfield Hospital, Inc. in Vermont is seeking a Financial Counselor to guide patients through the insurance application process and access to financial tools.

You will schedule appointments, process Medicaid and Vermont Health Connect applications, and explain patient financial responsibilities. The role requires strong communication, confidentiality, and proficiency with hospital systems and MS Office; a healthcare background is preferred.

Qualifications

• Two (2) years’ customer service experience with diverse demographics.
• Two (2) years’ healthcare billing or related healthcare experience.
• Two (2) years’ experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Must complete Certified Vermont Assister coursework within 30 days of hire and maintain certification.

Responsibilities

• Schedule appointments with patients/guarantors to discuss financial tools, insurance applications, and financial aid.
• Process Medicaid, Vermont Health Connect plans, and financial assistance applications.
• Demonstrate understanding of patient balances, insurance coverage, patient liabilities, and financial assistance.
• Utilize hospital information systems, Microsoft Office, and other software tools to perform duties.
