Job summary

Inland Northwest Behavioral Health is seeking a Financial Counselor to support the business office post-discharge, coordinate with patients and insurers, and act as the liaison for financial transactions. The role emphasizes accuracy, confidentiality, and friendly patient interactions.

The candidate will verify eligibility, assist with Medicaid enrollment and charity applications, manage upfront costs, and arrange payment plans while aligning with INBH collections policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; associate degree preferred.
• Two years of related customer service experience in healthcare preferred.
• Knowledge of accounts receivable collection techniques.
• Knowledge of patient financial transactions, Medicare, Medicaid, HMOs and private plans.
• Confidential handling of patient and employee information.
• Advanced knowledge of Excel preferred.

Responsibilities

• Verify intake data on demographics, insurance eligibility, and benefits.
• Assist patients with Medicaid enrollment and charity applications.
• Perform upfront collection activities and set up payment plans per policy.
• Monitor Medicaid benefits and coordinate with UM Director for retro-authorization.
• Analyze private self-pay accounts and ensure netting against contract rates.
• Make collection calls and document all payments and installment plans.
• Provide back-up support for other business office positions as needed.
